Anouk Van Gestel is a journalist and editor-in-chief of the magazine Marie Claire Belgium. To describe her as passionate would be no exaggeration. About her job, her family, literature, fine living and dining. And humanity. She has been involved for many years in diverse social solidarity projects. For her, social engagement is a way of life. In this capacity, over the past 20 years, she has sheltered children in need and in recent years, young migrants. She is currently being prosecuted by the Brussels Criminal Court for human smuggling and organised crime. In October 2017 she was subjected to a full police raid and is facing a trial that was postponed in April 2018. She will speak about it and defend her values on 1 December: solidarity is not a crime!
