Vincent Engel is a writer, playwright and screenwriter. He is also Professor of Literature and the History of Ideas at the Catholic University of Louvain and IHECS (Institute of Higher Education in Social Communication), and political columnist for Le Soir and RTBF [La Radio-télévision belge de la Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles].
A specialist in literature from the camps and passionate about twentieth century history, he has published several essays and numerous articles on this history and the ideologies that shaped it. In his weekly column on the site Soir, he has, each weekend over the past three years, developed a political analysis on « the inner enemies of democracy ».
In his novels – twenty published to date, several translated and honoured with a book-prize -, plays and screenplays; When it is not the main subject, history is rarely absent, as in Forget Adam Weinberger (1)
